Review by hotel critic
Nestled on a hill overlooking the bay, Mercure offered a peaceful escape. The suite-like rooms provided a comfortable respite, though breakfast was unremarkable. Despite minor issues, the welcoming reception staff eased any concerns. Strolling to Porto San Stefano was pleasant, with a private beach serving as a serene retreat. While shortcomings like moisture patches and noisy aircon existed, the hotel's location and friendly service compensated. The proximity to outstanding fish restaurants in Porto Santo Stefano was a bonus. The seaside terrace, with its inviting deck and lifeguard-cum-barista Sweet Paula, beckoned for moments of tranquility. For an average stay with glimpses of paradise and warm hospitality, Mercure makes a decent choice for travelers seeking a relaxing break.
